Here is THE good news that so many people had been waiting for: Spain is once again opening its borders to ALL travellers, under various conditions depending on the country of origin.
We are delighted with this new measure: our clients will now be able to make the most of their Spanish home this summer.
In this new article, Secundo tells you more about this news.
Spain, a safe destination
On the podium of the world's tourist destinations, Spain holds the silver medal, just behind France.
That shows just how much the country has suffered since the start of the pandemic. Whereas in 2019 no fewer than 83.5 million tourists came to spend their holidays there, the country saw its visitor numbers fall by 77% in 2020.
The Minister for Health, Carolina Darias, made it clear in her statements to journalists: “Spain is a safe destination”.
But the good news does not stop there.
If for one reason or another you have not been vaccinated, you will still be able to come to the land of paella and sangria. It sounds a little clichéd, we admit, but we are convinced that after these difficult times you will appreciate a holiday in the sun (while also tucking into some tapas!). Indeed, in order to revive tourism, Spain is easing the conditions for entry into its territory. From now on, Belgian nationals have three options for entering Spain.
1. All travellers aged 12 and over, even those entering by land, must be in possession of one of the following documents:
- A negative result from a NAAT test (PCR, TMA, LAMP, …) or a negative antigen test carried out within 48 hours before arrival in Spain;
- A vaccination certificate, for travellers who have already been fully vaccinated with a vaccine recognised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or the World Health Organization (WHO). The certificate must have been issued at least 14 days after the administration of the final dose.
- A recovery certificate. The certificate must show a positive NAAT test result from no more than 180 days ago. All certificates must be drawn up in English, French, Spanish or German.
2. The EU Digital COVID Certificate (the “European health pass”) is also already accepted by the Spanish authorities. If you are travelling with this document, you simply need to state so in the FCS form.
3. All travellers entering by air must complete an FCS form (Formulario de Control Sanitario) within the 48 hours before arrival in Spain. After completing and signing the document, the traveller will receive a QR code, which will then be checked at the airport.
If you are travelling with your international vaccination certificate (yellow booklet), state in the FCS form that you do not hold the EU Digital COVID Certificate.
